Hi, I'm Angela Teachout!
Finding educational activities for my kids was hard. I'm an entrepreneur with a big family, 13 amazing kids (6 adopted & 7 bio). So believe me, I'm not exaggerating when I say time is precious to me.
But here's the thing: I was really unhappy with how schools were teaching my kids. They would just make them memorize stuff, do "busy work", and call it a day.
(So boring!)
And then disaster struck: COVID hit the world and our school became online only. Now the ONLY thing my kids were doing was memorization and "busy work". There was no room for critical thinking, and we watched as their sparks of inspiration began to fade, fast. (It was heartbreaking!)
I desperately wanted my kids to think outside the box, solve problems in creative ways, and be sharp thinkers. And I finally found out how.
In the amazing world of brain science, research has found cool new ways our brains learn. Dr. Karyn Purvis, a leading child development expert once said:
"Scientists have recently determined that it takes approximately 400 repetitions to create a new synapse in the brain- unless it is done with play, in which case, it takes between 10-20 repetitions."
Learning is kinda like creating a bridge that connects different ideas in your brain. When activities are fun and interesting, it's like having the right tools to build those bridges faster. (Pretty amazing, right?)
That's why we created this simple formula:
First, the "watching" component is essential. Our platform features engaging, step-by-step project videos hosted by popular YouTube creators. Kids have the opportunity to watch these entertaining videos, where they receive guidance on building exciting projects.
Next comes "doing." We encourage hands-on, practical experiences, which means children actively participate in creating projects. This isn't passive learning; it's active involvement that fosters creativity, problem-solving, and practical skills.
Lastly, "play" is integral to our product's success. We believe that learning should be fun, not a chore. The hands-on projects we offer are designed to be entertaining and engaging, akin to play, rather than mundane tasks. This enjoyable element enhances kids' problem-solving abilities and fosters a love for learning.
