Best Practices for Live Classes

Deliver Great Live Classes

Live classes are the heart of TKOR Classroom. These tips will help you create sessions that kids love and parents rave about.

Before the Class

  • Test your setup — check your camera, microphone, lighting, and internet connection before every session.
  • Prepare materials — have all supplies, slides, or demos ready to go. List what students need on the class page.
  • Join early — open the video room 2–3 minutes before start time to greet students as they arrive.
  • Set the scene — use a clean, well-lit background. Natural light works great.

During the Class

  • Be energetic and engaging — kids respond to enthusiasm. Keep your energy up and your tone warm.
  • Ask questions often — don’t lecture for too long. Check in with students every few minutes.
  • Use screen sharing — show demonstrations, websites, or presentations to keep things visual.
  • Keep it hands-on — TKOR Classroom families love building, creating, and experimenting. Give students things to do, not just watch.
  • Manage time — stick to your scheduled duration. Kids (and parents) appreciate punctuality.

After the Class

  • Follow up — send a message to students thanking them and sharing any follow-up materials.
  • Ask for feedback — it helps you improve and shows families you care.
  • Promote your next class — let students know what’s coming up next.

Pro tip: Record a quick practice session to see how you look and sound on camera. Small adjustments to lighting and audio make a big difference.
